STAR Transport

STAR Transportation has been serving the needs of the community's older adults and individuals with disabilities since 1982. It is supported by a millage of the townships of Bruce and Washington, a Specialized Service Grant from the State of Michigan, community and municipal credits from SMART, and is a community based service provider of SMART.
STAR provides rides for eligible* residents to local** banks, grocery stores, drug stores, hair appointments, nutritional and recreational activities, for medical care and other needs. Out-of-area transportation is also available for personal medical appointments at or near Henry Ford Macomb, Crittenton, and Troy Beaumont. Non-local shopping trips are also scheduled, in advance, each month.

*Eligibility: Passengers must: (1) be residents of Washington or Bruce Township (Includes the Village of Romeo); (2) be 60+ years of age or under 60 years of age and have a disability that prevents them from operating a vehicle. 
**Local: Service is provided up to five miles beyond the borders of, and including the townships of Bruce and Washington, and extended to include the hospitals of Ascension, Providence Rochester Hospital, Henry Ford Macomb, Troy Beaumont Hospital, and doctors’ offices in those vicinities. Trips out of the Townships of Washington and Bruce are restricted to personal medical appointments, social services, or social security, or special group trips, for eligible riders that live in Washington or Bruce Township.

For your safety, STAR Transportation Drivers & Dispatch Employees are required to have a chauffer license, pass a medical physical, background check & drug test, achieve CPR & AED certification, and complete SMART Training. 

Schedule your ride! Call STAR at (586) 752-9010 by 12:00PM at least two working days in advance. STAR will take reservations for Medical appointments up to 1 month in advance, and all other appointments up to two weeks in advance.

Business Hours:     STAR operates Mon - Fri, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, closed for most Government Holidays.
